Vicious... You are biased. You are taking for granted the part where you agree to this and enjoy yourself so much. But I suppose you're right. It is not the opportunity I appreciate as much as your desire. Did I make your desire happen, too?

[Vicious rubs his nipple in contemplative circles.]

...Kinda. I mean, you're obviously not gonna make me want somethin' I ain't interested in. But I can't want somethin' I'm not even thinkin' of, and your desire is what's makin' me think of it.

Because you take more risks than I do, and so your risk calculation is very quick, you mean...

Eh, I do take risks, sure. But I also don't see what's risky about it.

For example, you could break someone's heart, leading them on when you don't know yet if you will be invested in them in exchange.

How's turnin' 'em down right away s'posed to be better than that? Rather than riskin' it, you're makin' it certain just 'cause you're scared of not knowin'. Ain't like you gotta "lead 'em on," you can tell 'em where you're at with it.

It is not like it has to be permanent rejection. I clearly managed to explain myself to Da Vinci later, after putting her off temporarily.

Sure, ya might be able to do that, but maybe they don't wanna try again after gettin' rejected once. Sounds pretty risky to me!

...That ain't it at all. Things could go wrong either way, and prob'ly will. But that just means you should do whatever you want, same as me. Just no reason to act like your way is better.

[His sulkiness thaws to a more earnest response.]

Of course. ...That is probably a good way of looking at it. That things are most likely to go wrong, no matter what.

Right. Ain't like you're gonna find anyone where ya feel the same and understand each other immediately. Wantin' to work through it even when ya don't is more important.

[derailer]

You are going to make me feel bad for breaking up with people.

[But this time he says it in a teasing tone himself.]

Nah, breakin' up with the people ya don't wanna be with is important too. Just, if it's someone ya do, ya don't have to get everythin' right. Ain't like there's usually a right to get, anyway. Would be a lot less fun if there was.
